Ann Curry
Ann Curry has worked as a journalist for 45 years. Her work focuses on natural disasters as well as war zones. Curry's parents are Japanese and her father was an American Navy Sailor. She met her mother during the time she was living with her father in Japan following World War II. Due to her father's service in the military that they had to move around a lot. Curry finished high school at Ashland Oregon. She graduated in 1978 in 1978 from her school at the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. The diversity of her experiences and the experiences she had during her growing up probably influenced her method of expressing her views on global issues. Curry did not enroll in a school for longer than two years due to her family relocated frequently. She attended schools in Alameda, San Diego and Virginia. Ashland was her final high school. Her path to a successful career when she began her career in broadcasting as an intern in KTVL Channel 10 in Medford Oregon. Later, she became the first news reporter female at the station, at 22. After that, she took on the position of an anchor and reporter at KGW an NBC affiliate in Portland, Oregan. She moved back in Los Angeles four years later as a journalist for KCBS TV. Over the course of her six years working for the station, she received the award of two Emmy Awards.
